Camila Vale (Viana do Castelo, 1993) is an independent filmmaker focused on analog aesthetics and themes of loneliness, intimacy, and relationships. Her work is deeply influenced by archive images and their ties to memory.
She holds a degree in Cinema/Moving Image (2015) and completed the Advanced Visual Arts Course (2017) at Ar.Co, Lisbon. In 2018, she began teaching Super 8 at Ar.Co and pursued postgraduate studies in Fiction Writing at Lusófona University. Recently, she earned a master’s in Film Archive Preservation at Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola, supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Her films include Cacti and Other Plants (Curtas Vila do Conde, 2018), Spring (FEST, 2018), and Savagery (Indie Lisboa, 2020). In 2023, she interned at Cinémathèque de Toulouse, focusing on home-movie collections. Camila’s work bridges past and present, blending traditional and modern techniques into immersive visual and sound experiences.
